This page is about ruTorrent configuration and usage.

Basic actions

Start the service

You can start the ruTorrent service using your dashboard and selecting start to start your service. Once the service is up and running, choose Go to my service to access your personal ruTorrent installation.

Stop the service

You can stop the ruTorrent service using your dashboard and selecting stop to stop your ruTorrent service.

Reset the service

In case you are unable to access your ruTorrent service or if you want a fresh install of ruTorrent, you will need to:

  1. Stop the ruTorrent service;
  2. Select Reset my service and validate your choice.

Be aware that only your configuration will be resetted, your data will be kept and, at the next start, you will simply do a fresh install.

Fresh install

At first start or after a reset you will need to perform some basic configuration:

  1. Access your service, you will be asked to create an Administrator account;
  2. You are done, you can start using the service.

Using the service

Add a torrent

Select the + button at the top right of the you screen. You can either:

  • Add a torrent from a URL;
  • Add a torrent by uploading a file from your local computer.

You should keep the default /data/ path, but for easier organization you may choose another folder to better find your files. For instance, we recommend you to use the following folders:

  • /data/movies
  • /data/series
  • /data/others
  • … and any other you might find useful.

Delete a torrent

Select a torrent and then select the - button at the top right of your screen. You will be prompted to also delete the data, we recommand you to do so for easier disk usage management.

Pause a torrent

Select a torrent and then select the stop button at the top right of your screen.

Resume a torrent

Select a torrent and then select the play button at the top right of your screen.

Display information about a torrent

Right click on the torrent and select Torrent Details.

Change torrent’s priority

Right click on the torrent and select Priority. The first level is Don’t download, the second is Normal and the third level is High. You an also set a per file priority by accessing the information of the torrent and using the Files tab.

Tag usage

You can add tags to your torrent to easily search for torrents and perform multiple actions.

Manage user

Select the Settings button a the top left of your screen, and use the Authentication tab to add, remove and update a user.

Change language

Select the Settings button a the top left of your screen, and use the User interface tab to change the ruTorrent displayed language.
